The $500 Harvest: From a Polish Farm to the American Dream
The Foundation: Lessons from the Soil
They say the first 15 years of your life form your foundation. For me, that foundation was a farm in Poland. My parents were my heroes. They didn’t just teach me how to work; they taught me that food is a sacred responsibility. My mother cooked every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was no take-out, no pizza, and certainly no chemicals. Every meal was a result of hard work and pure ingredients.
I eventually graduated with a degree in Economics and Business Management, but the "gold" I carry in my pocket today—my real business foundation—came from those early years in the dirt and the kitchen.

The Sacrifice: A Journey of Grit
Life was not easy. At 24, I lost my father, my hero. Not long after, I won the Green Card lottery and faced a choice that would change everything. I decided to pursue the opportunities of the United States. I left Poland with my two small children and arrived at JFK with exactly $500 in my pocket.

I never saw my mother again. I returned for her funeral years later, staying for only four days. It is a sacrifice that is hard to put into words, but it fueled a fire in me. I knew that if I was going to be here, I had to make it count. I had to "do it.

The Humbling: From Diploma to Doorsteps
The transition wasn't glamorous. Despite having a degree in Economics and Business Management, I arrived in America without the English to use it. I remember telling myself, "I am not going to clean houses," but reality had other plans. To keep a roof over my children’s heads and food on the table, I set my diploma aside and picked up a vacuum.
It was a humbling, grueling experience that forged my character. I remember giving birth to my youngest son on a Wednesday, and by the following Monday, I was already back in the car, driving my cleaning help to work and back. I did what I had to do. In those houses, I learned that no job is beneath you if it leads to your dream. I wasn’t just cleaning; I was funding the future of TerraNut.
The Problem: The "Cost" of Convenience
As I worked, worked, and worked to build a life for my three children here, I found a glaring problem. In 2012, I looked around and realized it was nearly impossible to find a truly clean snack. Everything was filled with additives, hidden sugars, and "shelf-life" chemicals.
As a mother and a farm-raised girl, I was shocked. I realized that while the price of these snacks was low, the cost to our health was far too high. Using my business degree and my parents’ work ethic, I decided to solve the problem myself.

The Harvest: Why TerraNut is Different
I started TerraNut to bring the farm-raised standards of my childhood to the busy lifestyle of the modern world. We make plant-based, gluten-free, cold-pressed snacks. We don’t cook out the nutrients; we press them in.
Today, at 62, I look at my business with immense pride. TerraNut has no outside investors, no sponsors, and no donations. It was built on grit, late nights, and the integrity my parents instilled in me.
The Promise
When you hold a TerraNut snack, you aren't just holding a product. You are holding the result of a 62-year journey. We don’t just press nuts and seeds; we press years of integrity into every bite.
I did the hard work so you don’t have to. You shouldn't have to choose between a busy life and a healthy one.
Welcome to our table. Welcome to TerraNut.

With health and integrity,
Urszula Lulewicz
